DESIGN PROCESS

The objective of my project was to develop a full brand identity, starting from a concept rooted in Florida wildlife. I initially selected the Southern Flying Squirrel as my subject, but I had to pivot from simply focusing on a Florida animal to building a brand that could stand on its own, not necessarily tied to Florida. I designed a custom logo based on the squirrel and expanded the concept into a cognac label, using the French name “Écureuil Volant” to reflect cognac’s origin.

To tie the brand to the squirrel theme, I created an acorn-infused flavor and designed a secondary acorn icon that appears on the bottle cap. This icon features two thin, elegant gold acorns with delicate linework, symbolizing both the squirrel’s natural habitat and the artisanal, refined quality of the cognac. The final deliverables included a cohesive front and back label design, as well as the bottle cap, creating a consistent and sophisticated visual identity throughout the packaging.
