The visual identity combines flowing linework, dark tones, and subtle highlights to evoke fading light on moonlit waves, and the sensation of drifting through sound. Designed for a 20 – 37 year old audience seeking relaxation and disconnection, the project emphasizes three core ideas: peacefulness in sound, emotional escape, and sensory immersion.

DESIGN PROCESS

The objective of this project was to develop a cohesive merchandise packaging system centered around a chillwave-inspired coastal night festival, built around the title “Echo Tides.” The merch box was designed to reflect the dreamy, surreal qualities of a beachside night environment, where music and ocean rhythms blend together, inviting the audience to momentarily escape and “float into sound.”

The structure of the project revolved around designing a main outer box that contains five individual boxes inside, each functioning as part of a unified system. The process began with detailed sketches of each component, carefully considering how the pieces would interact and fit together. Then, I had to develop precise dielines, ensuring that every box was accurately measured, efficiently constructed, and seamlessly assembled within the larger package.

Once the structural foundation was established, I moved into the visual design phase, creating graphics that captured the mood of the festival. Gradients and tones were inspired by fading moonlight over ocean waves, and graphics were designed to feel fluid and atmospheric, maintaining consistency across all five inner boxes.

Each element works together to reflect the identity of Echo Tides, transforming the merch box into an extension of the festival itself, with every detail considered across both structure and visual execution.
